Spartacus Vengeance Season 2 Episode 5: Libertus

What does it actually mean to be free? Here in Spartacus, you can see that there is no freedom after all. Everyone fights! It’s no surprise that several of the country’s top critics enjoy watching Spartacus: Vengeance, but it’s still nice to see it in writing while an excellent tableau is playing in the background.  I love Spartacus Vengeance not because it is bloody and sexy, I love the show for it just reminfs about our past history. It is educational in any case for it let us saw gladiators and Romans put into context once again. And it’s nice to see some new footage as well.  It looks like we’ll be returning to the arena soon for another bloody battle. So, better watch out for Spartacus Vengeance Season 2 Episode 5.

As a short review, last episode was entitled Empty Hands and here, we saw Spartacus attempts to lead his surviving men through the woods to safety; Crixus becomes separated from the group and finds himself at a place that dredges up painful memories and past horrors. Elsewhere, Lucretia digs into Ilithyia’s past affairs to seek favor with a high-ranking Roman. This  time, we will be seeing from Spartacus Vengeance Episode 5: Libertus, Spartacus undertaking a mission to rescue Crixus from the Romans, but a famous gladiator from the House of Atiatus interferes with the plan; Ilithyia’s scheming begins to affect her marriage to Glaber. Spartacus is finally getting to the heart of its subject. The title gladiator is assembling his army of freed slaves while weighing whether his cause is worth the risk and confronting the burden of taking responsibility for the lives of others.

We’re intended to believe that as pursuit at a banquet, well-born men and women will draw lots and take turns mutilating a captured slave. Apparently in this society, it’s a faux pas if a young patrician woman hesitates to stab a bound man whose eyes are pleading for mercy. Witness it from Spartacus!
